We asked participants what they thought of ALN2014: what they liked, what they loved, and what could be improved. Here are the results:

Overall assessment

70% of attendees rated the Gathering as “excellent” or “off the charts”.

Highlights and favorite sessions

The key highlights for attendees were the lunch and discussion with President Paul Kagame, the AAE Gala Dinner, the choice of Rwanda as a setting, and the relationship-building opportunities (“people”, “members”, “networking”).

Six sessions had more than 70% people ranking them as ‘excellent’ or ‘off the charts’:

And all attendees would “definitely” or “probably” recommend ALN to their peers:

Ideally, we want the entire Gathering to be rated “off the charts”. Although all of the sessions were rated highly, we received constructive feedback on the timing, logistics, and execution of many of them, as well as on the Gathering as a whole. Some people felt that the following issues could be improved upon:

  • Confusing logistics, such as poorly communicated last-minute changes, the difficulty of having multiple locations, and A/V challenges
  • Inadequate time in some sessions devoted to important topics (such as the Centered Leadership session and the Kigali City Tour)
  • Limited formal opportunities for participants (including members, sponsors, and AAE finalists) to make new connections with one another

We appreciate this feedback and will use these suggestions when planning for future Gatherings.
