ALN2015 Ends on a Strong Note in Marrakech, Saturday, November 7

The African Leadership Network (ALN) concluded its sixth Annual Gathering in Marrakech, Morocco, on Saturday, November 7, 2015. This year’s highly topical theme was Boundaries: Define, Defend, Defy. Africa’s most influential change-makers met, exchanged ideas and support, sparking prosperity in Africa for years to come. The interactions facilitated at ALN’s Annual Gatherings undergird relationships that develop into business partnerships, mentorships and other enriching ties. At ALN2015, Africa’s leaders engaged with innovative and information-packed sessions, ranging from experiential programming on the concept of crossing boundaries, to workshops analyzing the trajectory of growth in the various markets within Africa.

Highlights from ALN2015 in Marrakech include a discussion with author Uzodinma Iweala, who participated in panel sessions and screened the Netflix movie based on his book, Beasts of No Nation and a hands-on session requiring ALN members to navigate boundaries with different passports.

This year’s Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship winners include:

Transformational Business Award: Tabitha Karanja (Keroche Breweries)

Outstanding Mature Business Award: Munyaradzi Gwatidzo (Astro Mobile)

Outstanding Growing Business Award: Tayo Oviosu (Paga)

Outstanding Social Entrepreneur Award (USD $50,000 sponsored by Elma Growth Foundation): Amina Slaoui (Groupe AMH)

AAE2015 winners represent the best of entrepreneurship on the continent. They have persevered to establish thriving companies, all of which are creating tangible positive impact on the regions and countries in which they operate.
ALN CEO, Mr. Isaac Fokuo, summed up the ALN2015 proceedings, noting that the African business landscape has never been more exciting and promising than now: “These African entrepreneurs represent a model for success on the continent. Using their example, we can begin to chart a path to a more prosperous future.”
