Africa is undoubtedly going through the most critical time of its long history. Africans have been portrayed as passive victims during the time of slavery and colonialism; we now have the opportunity to re-define ourselves as proactive, converting the image of a miserable continent into that of the brightest and most promising region worldwide.
We have been endowed with abundant resources, both human and material. Now, we need strong leadership to ensure that our communities in Africa have adequate education, economic and health systems that will allow us to become prosperous. This hope for a sea change is one of the reasons why I am so excited to be a Member of the African Leadership Network’s incoming Class of 2015; I am entering a community of leaders who really believe in transforming Africa. Not just on paper, but for all Africans; not tomorrow, but now.
