ALN Ventures and Microsoft form Alliance

ALN Ventures is pleased to announce a strategic alliance with Microsoft under the 4Afrika initiative to support entrepreneurs across the African continent.

As one of the world’s foremost technology companies, Microsoft has shown a particular commitment to entrepreneurs through various programs designed to help startups. One such program is the global BizSpark program. BizSpark provides entrepreneurs with complimentary and discounted software solutions, which drive efficiency, productivity, and creativity in the world’s most promising early-stage companies.

In Africa specifically, Microsoft has launched Biz4Afrika, an Africa-wide network of SMEs designed to enable a sustainable and connected community of entrepreneurs that will have a meaningful impact on job creation, global competitiveness, and wealth creation in the long run. This initiative empowers entrepreneurs to get to know one another and trade amongst themselves. Biz4Afrika is backed by Microsoft’s first-class business practice and advisory services.

To help with the upskilling of startups, participants also have access to Microsoft Virtual Academy, which provides free online IT training in Microsoft technologies through courses designed by industry experts.

ALN Ventures is delighted to partner with Microsoft to deliver all the value of the BizSpark, Microsoft Virtual Academy, and Biz4Afrika initiatives to our 8 portfolio companies. The class will also have access to Microsoft’s deep internal pool of experts and mentors. Given the varied backgrounds of #ALNV2015 — with technical, financial, and non-business backgrounds represented in the class of 2015 — the expertise within Microsoft will be especially valuable, as the entrepreneurs consider how best to leverage software to drive growth.

The ALN community salutes and thanks Microsoft for its commitment to entrepreneurship in Africa, and its support for the Ventures class especially.
